L&G is predominantly a timber and sheet material importer and merchant, breaking bulk at its site location in Detling near Maidstone, Kent, and distributing to the construction industry throughout nearby counties.

With a 3-acre purpose-built site, adapted to suit the establishment's requirements, and a 15-acre ex-quay operation, the company imports vast quantities of carcassing softwood from Sweden and Latvia.

L&G prides itself on being a leading supplier in its field, offering the best and largest selection of stock for immediate delivery.

Company History

From humble beginnings in Brixton, South West London in the late 1990's to its current purpose built 3-acre site in Maidstone, 16 acre timber terminal in Rochester and 200,000 square foot plywood store at Tilbury, L&G Forest Products has emerged as the South East’s leading traditional timber merchants and importer.

Concentrating on its strengths and exceeding customers’ expectations has seen L&G expand quickly and land countrywide supply contracts from some of the country’s largest construction companies.

With an impressive range of stock at Maidstone, Rochester and Tilbury, L&G can supply the most demanding timber specifications to its projects on time, every time.

As specialist suppliers of all wood products to the construction industry, L&G's main clients include Laing O'Rourke, Kier Group, Berkeley Homes and Byrne Brothers. Its larger size subcontractors include South Eastern Carpentry, Atlantic Group, Keltbray and Woodlands.

Over the past four years, L&G has become a preferred supplier to BUILDBASE Southern Distribution, providing untreated and treated carcassing to various depots. The company has more recently partnered with BSW Latvia, using a high quality product, which has enhanced service to the group.

More recently, L&G Forest Products has moved seamlessly into the role of merchant importer/distributor to leading merchants nationwide and with the continued support of Grafton Merchanting GB intends to expand this business further in the future.

“Working for L&G is not like coming to work. As quite a small organisation, we all get on very well and it feels like a family.”
